Yay for cameras!

look how fun X-processing can be!

a photo w/ the new Canon EOS Rebel

I love just love a new(to me) camera!  I just recently purchased a Canon EOS Rebel from a friend, and I've been having a great time learning all the ins & outs of DSLR photography.  It's definately  handy for those times that I want instant gratification.

But to curb the boredom and rut that I've dug myself into with my Minolta X-700, I've been doin' the old X-process with slide film with fun results!

And..... I am eagerly awaiting my brand-new $9.50, 100% plastic Vivitar Ultra Wide & Slim "LOMO" camera.  Then I can take that little thing around with me and get some fun shots.

I also managed to get an extra day off a week at work so I hope to have more time to shoot.  Wish me luck!

Popping my blogging cherry

Ok. So this is it.  I have fully assimilated into the online community.
Now I can pontificate to people who aren't standing in front of me.  Hmmm.... Well, hopefully I will have some interesting things to share. For instance, today my boyfriend and I are hosting a BBQ.  It's a beautiful day, and I am stoked to finally have a day off of work so I can just chill the fuck out and relax.  I've got so much more responsibility at work these days so I feel almost guilty NOT doing something.

Listen kids, don't go to culinary school. It ain't worth it.  Cooking is a physically demanding job, and you won't get paid millions of dollars.  I am very lucky to get paid well for what i do.  I run the kitchen in a really great bar/pub/lounge/venue/artspace.  I get all wistful sometimes when I think of all the fancier, more prominent places I've worked.  But they don't pay you very well, you have to work with neanderthals, and you're lucky if your chef isn't a psychotic alcoholic. Plus you have to sublimate your real personality most of the time.  My bosses know I'm a quirky, bitchy, but hard-working little cuss. I don't have to be all smiles and sugar/spice/everything nice.
So, yeah.... glad to have the day off!
